Wholesale bakery M-Back GmbH has a building project on the drawing board – a new bread factory in Bleicherode that will cost EUR 35 million. The first step will create 120 new jobs, with a potential 80 more jobs to be added in 2015.
In March, Getzner Textil Weberei GmbH decided to extend its premises in Gera. A subsidiary of an Austrian textiles manufacturing company, Getzner is investing approximately EUR 46 million in building a new weaving mill and in extending its current mill, creating 100 new jobs in Gera in the process.
Numerous other companies are planning major investments for the current financial year. A recent survey by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce showed demand for German industry increasing both locally and internationally, a development that it says could see the creation of about 40,000 new jobs in 2014.
