Erfurt company Iosono GmbH, which specializes in the manufacture of 3-D sound systems, signed a cooperation agreement with SWD Group at the very beginning of the week-long visit. The innovative acoustic technology will be sold under the name ‘Iosono China’.
Traveling with the delegation headed by Thuringia’s state premier, Christine Lieberknecht, provided multiple companies with the chance to make important connections. For example, UST Umweltsensortechnik GmbH signed an agreement to develop and supply air sensors, so Thuringian technology will be used to monitor air quality in Xi’an. “The fact that Xi’an is procuring environmental technology shows that air pollution and keeping the air clean are on the agenda in China now as well as in other countries,” says Lieberknecht.
And environmental technology is only one of the areas that hold out good prospects for Thuringian companies these days. Automotive and engineering companies, as well as those involved in medical technology and the food industry, have a lot to gain from venturing into the Chinese market.
MITEC Automotive AG, from Eisenach, has led the way by setting up a production plant in Dalian together with JEBSEN. “The first two years are the hardest,” says MITEC CEO Dr Michael Militzer, “but there are no two ways about it. You have to have an internationalization strategy.” During the trip, MITEC announced that it would be investing more money in its Chinese facility.
With Lieberknecht in attendance, EPC Engineering, from Rudolstadt, signed an agreement with OCC (Ningbo Oceanking Chemical Developing Corporation) to build a polycarbonate production plant worth €90 million. (kö)
