“Israel has an extremely dynamic economy with a strong start-up scene and many small and medium-sized companies, especially in the high-tech area,” explained Thuringia’s State Secretary , Jochen Staschewski, who led the delegation. “There are many points of contact here for Thuringian companies.” Top of the agenda during the four-day visit were knowledge transfer and industry-related and collaborative research, all with the objective of increasing the number of Thuringian companies that have trade connections with Israel from the current 35. The main products presently being exported from Thuringia to Israel are optical and photographic equipment, machinery, electronic and electrical equipment and components, pharmaceutical products, medical equipment and rolling stock.
Tzvika Oren, head of the Israel Manufacturers’ Association, welcomed the delegation particularly attentively. Oren believes there is good potential for cooperation in research and development and the automotive sector, and was enthusiastic about the innovative energy of the “hidden champions” in Thuringia. He is hoping to bring an Israeli business delegation to Thuringia as soon as possible to forge closer relationships.
