Gerstungen - Automotive supplier AE Group is expanding its head office in Gerstungen, investing approximately EUR 65 million in new machinery and equipment. By 2018 it will have a staff of about 600 in Gerstungen, having employed 128 more people to work on gear mechanisms, pump housings, components for brake and vehicle control systems, chassis components and joining elements for front and rear doors.
Sonneberg - Oscomed GmbH - a precision technology Company - has located in the industrial area Malmerz in Sonneberg. As development partner of renowned industrial enterprises it manufactures smallest plastic components, tools and prototypes for medical technology under cleanroom conditions. Oscomed will be starting with about 20 employees at the new location.
Nordhausen - Thimm Schertler Verpackungsssysteme is extending its facilities in Nordhausen. A new office building with a modern testing laboratory of approximately 1,900 square meters will expand the area to about 50,000 square meters. In the building, which Thimm Schertler leases from the State Development Corporation of Thuringia, EUR 1.5 million have been invested. The company specializes in packaging systems for the automotive industry and other high-tech sectors and has a staff of 264. With six sites in Germany, Czech Republic and Austria, Thimm Schertler is a leading manufacturer of packaging solutions made from different materials.
