In the words of Arnulf Wulff , Senior Vice President of LEG, at this year’s annual AGKW convention in November, “The Association of Municipal Business Development Agencies has become the most important venue for cooperation between business promotion agencies at state and local level. The Association brings all major players together – namely officials from Thuringia’s Ministry for Economic Affairs and LEG, the county- and city-level business development agencies as well as experts from business and science. The resulting continuous exchange of information and experiences has been a powerful stimulus for business development in the state.”
At the annual convention that has been attended by all Thuringian Ministers for Economic Affairs over the decades, current issues including investment promotion policies, incentives, site development, recruitment of skilled personnel and internationalization are discussed by numerous attendees. Prominent economists regularly provide impulses for the day-to-day work. Best-practice examples showcase exemplary projects. Within the AGKW, LEG also regularly organizes workshops to examine current trends. LEG’s latest success story gives business promotion offi cials additional boost: CATL, a Chinese battery cell manufacturer is going to set up a facility south of Erfurt. This is one of the most important investment decisions in Germany in recent years. One thing is certain: Thuringia is an attractive location for companies from all around the world – and AGKW will continue to make its contribution. (hw)
