Strengthening trade relations with India

The economic promotion trip to India was a huge success. The delegation of 50 people, led by Uwe Höhn, Thuringia’s Minister of Economy, returned with full order books and many new contacts and cooperation agreements.

Although it is experiencing a ‘dip’ at the moment, the Indian market offers Thuringian companies excellent opportunities – that’s the overall impression the delegation got from its time in Delhi, Pune and Bangalore. “German companies and products have an excellent reputation in India, and the economy of our state can benefit from that too,” says Höhn. “In light of its significance, we need to keep working continuously on opening up the Indian market step by step.”

The results of the delegation’s trip include the opening of a new representative office for the Glatt group in Delhi and a project order from AJA Pharma. The establishment of a new factory by the Bagla group in Arnstadt (Thuringia) was announced and several more cooperation agreements in the area of technology and science were signed, such as the Fraunhofer Institute of Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS) with the Mayur Renergy Solutions Inc. and the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences with the Indian Institute of Science. The LEG also entered into a cooperation agreement with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Many of the companies represented in the delegation also made key contacts and kick-started new projects. (gro)
