Thuringia needs to attract People - from Germany and further afield - to meet its future demand for skilled workers and grow its economy. But whoever wants to enthuse skilled workers about coming to Thuringia also has to welcome them with open arms. Integration, appreciation and recognition are therefore the principles underlying the ‘Thuringia Initiative for a Welcoming Culture’, which aims to build Thuringia up to be even more open-minded and up to date.
“We don’t want to simply recruit skilled workers. We want to enthuse people and their families about living in Thuringia, give them promising career opportunities and a new home in our society and, working with them, build a Thuringia that is open-minded and a great place to live,” said LEG Managing Directors Andreas Krey and Frank Krätzschmar when they signed a memorandum of understanding with representatives of politics, business and civil society. The signatories included the Thuringian Ministers for Economy, Regional Development, Internal Affairs and Culture, the Thuringian Commissioner for Foreigners and representatives of business and the industry.
